Portland Headlight Lighthouse, Fort Williams Maine Fall Wedding
Maine destination adventure weddings and elopements hold a special place in my heart. I can’t think of a more beautiful way to be married than in an intimate setting, surrounded by the majesty of Maine’s wildly diverse scenery. The most important things are paramount—your love and your memories that will last a lifetime.
What is a Maine adventure wedding? For many it’s a Maine destination wedding with a stripped down ceremony held at one or MORE gorgeous locations, with just me, an officiant, and a few family members or friends to witness. In some ways it is similar to a micro-wedding, but the difference here is that there is a strong component of adventure and after the ceremony we go off exploring together, often hiking to beautiful locations to create epic images. Above all, we have a fantastic time. Adventure weddings make so much sense in a world that seems uncertain and unpredictable.
Adventure weddings are not weddings held at a venue or backyard with more than the couple and two to five family members attending.
There is a tremendous amount of creative freedom with a Maine adventure wedding and very little stress. Often my couples split their adventure wedding coverage over the course of two or three days, some choosing to allocate two hours of coverage for their wedding day at one location, and then using two hours the following day at a completely different location. Most couples book four hours of adventure wedding coverage and select a multiple day shooting schedule.
Get married on the beautiful Maine coast, near lighthouses and cliffs and the following day, we can head to the mountains, National Parks, beaches, or dance in golden fields, we can even explore downtown Portland, ME, take a spin on out to one of the Islands in Casco bay, or sail on a schooner at sunset. What results is a diverse gallery of images that truly capture your love an the beauty of Maine.
Dogs are welcome, as long as our location allows for them. Some couples pack a picnic with champagne, some do a first dance in the wilderness. Some choose to meet their family the following day for a session. The sky is the limit with adventure weddings. I work with a team of local vendors to help you find the perfect officiant, hair and makeup artist, florist and lodging and food.
This past November, I welcomed Peter and Sarah and their two dogs, Odin and Domino, to Fort Williams Park and the Portland Headlight Lighthouse. They were married out on the cliffs overlooking this iconic Maine landmark. After their ceremony, we hiked the cliffs and explored the park together to create beautiful images.
